Our mission: As a socially responsible company, associates at Sysmex America, Inc.
demonstrate their caring through sustainable and actionable contributions in our
communities throughout the Americas.
Our Sysmex Cares team supports Aim High, mentoring two
Chicago Public School students as part of the Companies that Care urban
mentoring initiative. We also support local organizations by conducting
food and toy drives during the holidays. Take Your Child To Work Day
is designed to interest young students in careers in science and healthcare.
Our contributions include creativity, time and energy to impact people locally and
globally.
Heroes in the Time of Storm
During emergencies, Sysmex has seen healthcare workers give their time and expertise
even more sacrificially than usual. In the case of Hurricane Sandy, many hospital
officials in the East made the decision to “shelter in place” based on their confidence
that the staff was well prepared for disaster plan deployment. We have heard about
technologists living without electricity who still go to the lab each day to provide
care to their patients. We have seen healthcare workers without water or housing
still making patient care their first priority.

Sysmex America Field Service Representatives (FSRs) were able to witness the courageous
efforts of some of these hospitals firsthand during the times they were stationed
at various hospitals prior to hospital or highway closings,
according to Sysmex America’s District Service Manager Jason Andrews. In some areas,
FSRs were unable to buy gasoline to drive to labs that needed service. Sysmex District
Manager Maurizio LaMonica purchased gas in New Jersey and drove it to the homes
of FSRs in area without electricity where he filled their gas tanks and enabled
them to get to the labs where they were needed.
In honor of the courageous efforts of community hospitals and their dedicated staff
during Hurricane Sandy and other disasters, Sysmex America stands ready to provide
support and help. Sysmex America matches employee donations to the Canadian or American
Red Cross and other approved 510(c) charitable organizations that benefit relief
efforts. “These are just a few examples of our commitment to contribute to healthcare
of people throughout the world”, says Bob Degnan, Executive Vice President, Commercial
Operations. “It’s the Sysmex Way to join forces and support the heroic efforts of
the people who care for our health.”
